Why Story

Connect the dots

Information used to be power, but that rule no longer applies.  Type a question into your favorite search engine and within seconds you’ll have an answer.  Don’t be scared but it’s true: the value of information has a one-way ticket towards zero.

The new frontier of differentiation in the marketplace belongs to those skilled in identifying patterns in data and translating that data into a coherent story.   People don’t want more information; they want to understand what the underlying story means and what actions they should take a result.

Story provides you with a map-making framework that simplifies the complex.  People are hungry for purpose and meaning, and Starting with Story teaches you how to give them what they want.

Connect with people

Few activities are more fundamentally human than telling stories.  Compelling stories have kindled the hearts of commoners to start revolutions and sparked the minds of corporate warriors to create products that were once inconceivable.

The best storytellers talk about things they know and care about to people they like and respect.  You don’t need to be a ‘natural’ storyteller; storytelling skills can be learned, practiced, and improved.

Your ability to align, inspire and innovate is directly proportional to your ability to tell a story.  Sharing your ideas in an intuitive and emotional way allows your story to spread, and Starting with Story will show you how.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

George Bernhard Shaw
