Reset Button

The New Norm

Today’s weather is cloudy with a chance of meatballs.  You can run but you can’t hide.

The stock market goes up. The stock market goes down.  Customers expect better quality delivered faster at lower prices.  What you did for them in the past just doesn’t cut it.

The future is more difficult to predict.  Trying to anticipate what tomorrow will bring, let alone next week or next month, just isn’t an option.  And don’t even think about next year.  You’ll be surprised.  Guaranteed.

Things aren’t simple like they used to be either.  More variables must be considered when making decisions and mixed signals are everywhere.  Yet you’re supposed to be more decisive than ever.  Kinda ironic, huh?

Roles are shifting and lines continue to blur too.  Your long-standing customers are now competitors and your arch rival may be knocking on your door to partner up.  Confused yet?  You better recheck your assumptions.

You can run but you can’t hide – this is true now more than ever.   The reset button has been hit.  We are living in a bold new world.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent… It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.”

Charles Darwin

The best chapter yet starts now.

Believe it or not, today’s rocky terrain presents enormous opportunity.  Your ability to endure and ultimately prevail depends on two things:

First, you must get in the habit of starting.  People that start focus on growth, possibility, and massive action.  Your gut instinct must be in the driver’s seat with curiosity helping you steer the boat.  You must be prepared to do the work too; there are no shortcuts.

Second, you must see the world through the lens of story.  You’ll understand and be understood as a result.  You’ll see the big picture and understand nuanced patterns at the same time.  You’ll be seen as a meaning-maker as your ideas spread and others join your cause.

Indeed, the best chapter yet starts now and it’s Starting with Story.

“Either you’re part of the solution or you’re part of the problem.”

Eldridge Cleaver
